Orbital 30-Something

Image
Orbital 30-Something CD1 From the very 1st sound I am immediately taken back in time; with a twist. Its historical rave moments followed by fitting Orbital sounds then the modernization synth stabs drop in the background. Hooked by the melodic sound only Orbital can deliver. Then words drop and fit! Paul's history at the Kent rave! The stereo that just wasn't as accurate 30 years ago. That's Smiley , track 1! The time machine brings us up to date at the start of track 2 - Acid House - new but old. Just as you get used to the techno bass drum, incomes a vocal noise, another layer is added, then another, then relatively quiet and a male voice repeats, then more electronic sounds. Punchy electronic house techno (mildly poppy) jazz? (Chorus only!) Bye bye I'm off on a journey! Eyes shut! Then stop! Where is it going? Stephen Hawking (SH) reels you into a visualised story of, for me, a Galactic tunnel . Then we get tempo and sounds! Energised! Then SH again. This (album) ...

New (not so new) Year Resolution 20XX

Image
NYR 20XX I am not a ‘New Year Resolution’ (NYR) believer. Sick of minor heart-felt , common , and false, ‘beliefs’ just being said to say something across the years. ·        Job ·        Gym more ·        Get a lass When realistically, although they were true, to a broken / fractured mindset, the intent was hardly in line with the bollocks of a NYR! Firstly, the JOB . Well, as someone with I STILL BELIEVE a thoroughly paramount WORKING ETHIC and attitude; I can honestly say, that I have tried beyond belief. Now, my acceptance is that that has had to have changed due to medical reasons . Meh. Such is life. The GYM! Never a gym bunny to quote a phrase, I did attend a gym whenever I could within reason. Miami dreams? No! Fitness in-line with MS , yes. And age now a factor 😂 . COVID a different factor now anyway too! Singleton. 43 and single. No “aw”s there – not my search (no pun int...

Summer 2018 nasties

Image
Aunty May Even being of an agnostic/atheist belief, there is something that being in a church for certain occasions feels a bit different. Recently (as of August 2018) my Aunty May passed away. Cancer had the final word. She had been living with the disease for too long, keeping up amazing spirits. Of course, it is sad. Trying to dig any positives out of any death is a damn hard ask. That the suffering ended? Possibly; hard to say an outright yes. That she received a brilliant send-off in church? Again, there is that word possibly. She was one of my Mam’s sisters. There were three. Aunty Maureen (she was funny!) was taken away surprisingly in the summer. There is now only one sister to Mam. Aunty Ann. One Scottish Aunty for Sharon (my sister) and I. To the church, and as I’ve said I’m largely a non-believer type (judge if you want) and as such attending church is a rare occasion. There are two reasons for such visits; for me. One sad, one happy. ...

Positive Affirmations ACE

Image
Positive Affirmations ACE The weeks are flying by. (“PositiveAffirmation”; “PA”) PA4 already. Sign of good times? Within reason! Finding a few good things is beneficial! I wonder what you may be thinking of these positive affirmations. They fit with something that was recently put to me during counselling. ACE . I’m no counsellor or psychologist yet I can relate to this ‘ACE’. Achievement , Closeness , Enjoyment . So, for me (my blog obviously) this model makes sense. With that, parts of meditation too (see below), and exercise! Knowing what I had in mind as to what I wanted , I had hopeful achievements planned. 1. Chillifest-ne Being the chilli-lover that I am, ok maybe it is an addiction (the chemical compound of capsaicin that causes the burn; triggers endorphins in the brain(!?)) of sorts, when “ North East Chilli Festival ” began a few years ago, I simply HAD to go. I have been all but 1 since. Knowing that being out of super-hot chilli sauce… ...

Positive Affirmations - We Continue!

Image
Positive Affirmations – We Continue! Week 3 and straight to point. I do remember that the thinking of three positive affirmations wasn’t always that easy. Then the difficulty when had had a good week, was choosing what three! 1. England. After that game I mentioned last week – England v Sweden – I am very happy to report (not really report!) on more success, in that WE WON!!! Yes, Sweden were not very good at all, we weren’t at our finest either, but notably better and 2 goals to their none proved us as rightful victors! Goals from Dele Alli and Harry Maguire did the job! SWE 0 – 2 ENG A thoroughly enjoyable Saturday was had. Company, beer (moderation of course), BBQ, England winning! Wednesday night coming – the 11 th July 2018 – will prove to be our first World Cup semi-final for a meagre 28 years! Bobby Robson was then at the helm in Italy for Italia 90 ! That was brilliant and stressful itself. Don’t ask Gazza about it or you’ll get a yellow card...

Blog about a blog

Image
Blog about a blog It’s now fast (feels like anyway) approaching autumn 2017 and I have achieved a blogging target! May not seem like a massive target to some, but 10+k views make me happy and it’s down to you guys – humongous (recently heard the word!) thanks! The subject title - “Blog about a blog” - Another confusing one? Would you expect anything else! I know there are other clearer ones… As I have no clear ‘event’ or similar to rattle on about, I will touch on some of my passions and their blog subject intent. Looking at the About Me tab on my page , we have ‘Sport’ up top. More focused on Newcastle United Football Club (NUFC) really, and my early claim that “This will be an ongoing blog!”. Yet to start that I know. It is coming; with the Premiership title! Calm down Roj, dreaming is allowed. Champions League spot? Music . Pretty well covered with blogs as-is, but there is and will be no end in my musical journey. The day that ends, I will cry! Might have...
